Palombina name had
origin from the fact that, during XVI century, the big owners of
Falconara Alta and Castelferretti castles, that managed wide countries
around Falconara, during the time of hunting, march and october, used to
hunt the white doves flying over Villa Ricotti's bush. At the end of
1800 Palombina consisted in a few number of houses, lived by workers,
craftsmen, fischermen. At the beginning of 1900 started to build
wonderful residences lived for summer holidays, full of parks and
gardens in front of the sea. Started the firsts bathing establishments...and
from this time start the history of Cori establishment...

...Silvio Cori was born
in 1887, in a place named Torrette di Ancona. His father was first a
carpenter, then a fischerman when he decided to stop the carpenter's
activity. Is possible to remember Silvio Cori wearing his pants rolled
over the knees and fixed by a rope...all of this made Silvio Cori one of
the unforgettable personage of Palombina's beach. Man proud, strong, was
very strict in his job mainly when managed the "tratta"
procedure, a typical fishing method, with his incredible passion...

..."Ragazzi, guardè come buliga dopo 'l quarto scagno!... Adè, calamo a cinque reste, e ogi, parola de Sibina, pjamo 'l pesce per meza Palombina!..Te ninì sistema le palanche onte, po' imbarca cofe e crochi; voialtri invece portè a bordo rete, reste e bandierola...Forza, adè varamo; e nun ve metè tuti da 'na parte come fane i greghi!...Te e te, che sè i più grosi, andè a popa e puntè 'l culo....Una ooph, una ooph!..." La barca ora scivola verso il mare e Sibina, con "i calzoni a cagarela e la panzeta meza de fora" sale a bordo con i quattro rematori più esperti."Dai andamo! E remè a tempo!" Calata la quinta resta, un ordine deciso: "Sciè!" La barca vira subito mettendosi parallela alla spiaggia ed allora Sibina, con mano sicura, cala mazza, rete, cova e banderuola. Calata l'intera sciabica, tutti i ragazzi cominciano a tirare con passi lenti e cadenzati. Sibina invece ancora la barca, verifica la posizione della banderuola, e quando è necessario fa sentire la sua voce: "Voialtri laggiù che sè indietro, deve da fà, ma nun tirè a stracolli! Voialtri invece tirè piano e feve avanti!" La sciabica, mano a mano che si avvicina alla riva, assume sempre di più la forma di un grande ferro di cavallo ed attira la curiosità e l'interesse della gente. "Te, pja el sguancio delà, che de qua ce penso io! Voialtri do' alzè i sciuri e tirè piano! Voialtri invece tirè in ginochio e tenè bassi i piombi!". Finalmente la "mano" è fatta ed il sacco è pieno. Testole, roscioli, sgombri, agore, sardoni e saraghina, vengono posati sulla riva del mare per essere poi messi nelle rispettive ceste. Il rito della "tratta" è terminato e gli "sciabigoti", contenti, possono rialzarsi e sgranchirsi un pò. Sibina è raggiante, ed avvicinandosi ai suoi ragazzi chiede con fare ironico e l'aria "brichina": "Chi è che de vojaltri aveva deto oggi pjamo 'l pesce per meza Palombina?... |

...and so this
love for fishing was passed to his son Giovanni, that since the
beginnings managed very well the establishment by renewing, building a
restaurant, where the passion for the sea and for the kitchen were
unchanged during the years...

...step by step the
establishment grew up, even if the Sibina grandfather's old traditions
have been respected fully and totally; started to be possible to rent
deckchairs, beach umbrellas, boats...

...and in the same time generations of childrens grew up playing happy in the beach. In the activity were involved Giovanni's daughters, mainly Stefania, that picked up from his father the passion for the sea and for the kitchen "old style made" in the respect of marchigiane's traditions... |

...and now here we are, in 2006's days; a lot of time passed from Sibina's "tratta procedure", many things were changed or upgraded, but always keeping the grandfather's spirit. Today there is a restaurant with wide capability, a modern beach with umbrellas, deckchairs, cabins, twice beach volley yards, mini-soccer yard, warm showers, and many many things... |
